Lot Essay

The so-called “Jim Clark” Gallet chronographs are some of the most desirable watches ever made by the company. Distinguished by their three-register black dials, an early example was worn by the legendary racecar driver Jim Clark. This particular example dates to circa 1970 and was one of the last examples made. It features a later Gallet logo with watch hands depicted within the “G”. It has a silvery-white text that harmonizes beautifully with the matte black dial. This watch is a large size for a vintage chronograph and collector interest in these watches continues to grow. This is an excellent example with unpolished case that would be great for anyone from a person seeking their first vintage watch to someone seeking to build their collection.
