John's Pick The Patek Philippe reference 2503 features a rectangular case, raised hold hour markers, leaf hands, domed crystal, and oversized fancy lugs. This watch was owned by Andy Warhol and was previously offered in a jewelry and watches auction of “The Andy Warhol Collection” at Sotheby’s in 1988. Andy was renowned for his excellent taste in fine watches and this reference 2503 reflects his taste in elegant watches with timeless appeal. In fact, the remarkable beauty of this watch is reflected in its selection as one of two watches featured on the cover of the auction catalog in 1988. The dial has light scratches around the edge. The subsidiary seconds register located at 6 o’clock has a light ring on the dial around the seconds hand. The Sotheby’s lot sticker is still on the back from when it was offered in the 1988 Jewelry and Watches Sale of “The Andy Warhol Collection”. The movement is in working order at the time of cataloging, consistent with the age of the watch.
