Lot Notes

From a private collection

The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The case is in good condition with light nicks and scratches throughout. The dial and hands appear to be original. The luminescent material in the hands and on the dial have darkened. The luminescent material on the dial is darker then in the hands, this is common for Tritium dial Panerai wristwatches. The movement is in working order at the time of cataloging, consistent with the age of the watch. The movement has not been tested for accuracy. A service is recommended given the age of the watch.

The condition of lots sold can vary widely due to factors such as age, previous damage, restoration, repair and wear and tear. The nature of the lots sold means that they will rarely be in perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Lot Essay

Fred's Pick
Panerai was acquired by the Vendome group in 1996/1997 and beginning in 1998 the serial numbers would begin with letters. "A" series models would be from 1998, like the present example. This series was made in a limited edition of 1500 pieces and this is number 149. These early Vendome Panerai's used Tritium for the luminescent material, on the dial and in the hands, designated by the "T SWISS T" at the bottom of the dials. Panerai stopped using tritium in circa 2000 and as a result the watches with Tritium are becoming more sought after by Panerai collectors.
