Lot Notes

From a private collection

The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The case is in excellent condition with light scratches. The case appears to have been polished by Patek Philippe early on as the case has developed a patina. The hallmarks on the side of the case at 9 o'clock are visible. The dial and hands appear to be original. The case back retains a Patek Philippe service sticker. The movement is in working order at the time of cataloging, consistent with the age of the watch. The movement has not been tested for accuracy. A service is recommended given the age of the watch.

The condition of lots sold can vary widely due to factors such as age, previous damage, restoration, repair and wear and tear. The nature of the lots sold means that they will rarely be in perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Lot Essay

Brandon's Pick
Patek Philippe launched the reference 3520 in 1965. At the time this model came out it was advertised as the flattest waterproof watch in the world. This reference was made in two series and this example is part of the second series because it houses the caliber 177. This watch features a hobnail bezel, white lacquered dial with black painted Roman numerals as well as "Tiffany & Co." signature on the bottom half of the dial. Patek Philippe watches retailed by Tiffany & Co. are highly sought after and in-demand by collectors. This watch appears to have been serviced by Patek Philippe early in its life and the case has developed a beautiful patina giving the yellow gold case a warm pinkish glow.
