Lot Essay
Rolex introduced the Explorer model in 1953 and it is still in production today. As one of Rolex's most popular sports watches, the Explorer is easily recognizable by its black dial with the luminous triangle at 12, luminous Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock and luminous baton numerals for the remaining hours. This example features a beautiful matte black dial with "frog foot" Rolex logo. The inside of the case back is engraved, "II.69" indicating that it is from circa 1969. The reference 1016 Explorer is a great everyday watch for many occasions.
