Rolex launched the GMT-Master in 1954 in order to provide pilots a watch that could read 24 hour time for a selected time zone. Following the success of this model, in 1959 Rolex introduced its successor, the reference 1675, which Rolex produced until 1980. The present example features a beautiful brown dial and two-tone brown and gold bezel, collectors refer to this model as the “Root Beer” GMT-Master. The bracelet is stamped "1 72." The inside of the case back is stamped “II 72” indicating it is from the second quarter of 1972.
