The reference 16800 is known as the transitional Submariner. This model was the first Submariner to use the caliber 3035, which has the quick date function. The reference 16800 had many technological advancements including a sapphire crystal and depth rating to 1000 feet. The 16800 either came with white gold surrounding the hour lume plots or no white gold surrounds. This particular model features the latter, which gives it a more vintage style. The combination of the matte dial and sapphire crystal give this Submariner a contemporary vintage look. This is an all-time classic and a great watch for everyday use.
