Lot Essay

Girard-Perreguaux used to make watches for Ferrari. The present example was made in a limited edition of 250 pieces and this is number 59 from 1999. The case back is engraved, “Scuderia Ferrari 1929 – 1999 Girard-Perregaux chronograhe a rattrapante “foudroyante” OJ No 59/250.” Typically watches made for Ferrari have the Ferrari moniker on the dial or the Ferrari emblem, this watch just has “S.F.” on the bottom of the dial at 6 o’clock, which stands for Scuderia Ferrari. This is a nice touch they did to keep the dial clean. Furthermore, this watch has a split-seconds chronograph that when activated has flying seconds in the 9 o’clock sub-dial. These split-second chronographs from Ferrari/GP offer a great value.
