Lot Essay

Longines started using the caliber 13ZN in circa 1936 and it was Longines first chronograph with a fly-back function. Longines made this movement entirely in-house. The 13ZN is regarded as one of the most beautiful and robust movements of all-time and are highly sought after by collectors. Longines made a variation of the 13ZN that was not a flyback chronograph, like the present example. Longines made 13ZN watches in various sizes and styles, the present example is 34mm with fixed spring bars and a solid 18k gold case. The watch is in overall honest, worn condition from the family of the original owner.

The extract from Longines states that this watch was invoiced on April 30, 1939 to the company Wirth, who was their agent in Switzerland at the time.
