Lot Essay

The present chronograph is offered in excellent overall condition with its original box.

While Tudor may have called their manual wind chronographs with date and brightly coloured dials by four digit reference numbers, the market quickly gave them the nickname Monte Carlo conjuring up images of the streets of the principality during Grand Prix weekend.
Reference 7159/0 is the second model of the second series of the Oyster Chronograph introduced in 1972, featuring a blank bezel calibrated for 500 units.

A similar ref. 7159/0 is illustrated and described in Alberto Isnardi's Tudor Anthology pp. 146-149.
