Lot Essay

With delicate engraving to the full hunter case, the present watch is an attractive pink gold pocket watch from the turn of the century. The engraving to the front and back represents a bird on top of its nest surrounded by plants and foliage. Repeating the hours and the quarters activated by a slide in the band, it is a very elegant and refined timepiece. This is made more apparent by its white enamel dial which shows 12 hours in black Roman numerals and also 24 hours in red Arabic numerals.

James Calame Robert was an experienced watchmaker, registered in 1891 in Switzerland, Chaux-de-Fonds. The present watch was manufactured by J. Calame Robert and retailed by Joyeria Ingold. The pocket watch is signed by the manufacturer to the cuvette and by the retailer to the dial.
