Lot Essay

Lemania is one of the most highly-regarded chronograph movement makers. Watch companies including Omega and Patek Philippe have used variations of Lemania-based movements. Beginning in the 1940s, Lemania produced military chronographs, particularly for the British forces. This single button chronograph was made for the British forces, this is indicated by the arrow on the dial and on the case back. It appears that this watch was repurposed in the military because one of the numbers on the back is crossed out and an other one is stamped underneath. Single button chronographs are quite rare and unusual and to find one made for the military is special.
