Lot Essay
Rolex Day-Date Reference 18038 in 18K yellow gold is characterized by its fluted bezel. The present watch is special in that it has a rare oxblood lacquered dial. This type of lacquered dial is also known as a Stella dial among collectors. Stella dials are rare and collectible and can come in various colors such as the present burgundy or oxblood color or green, turquoise, red and blue. The case on this Day-Date could be mistaken for pink gold due to the light oxidation over the years. This warm rosy-hue gives the watch a beautiful aesthetic combined with the Oxblood colored dial.
