John's Pick
The present pocket watch is extremely rare and notable for a number of reasons. Its 1940's vintage feel is apparent in its design with attractive Breguet numerals, but its lightweight is is very noticeable when held in the hand. This is attributed to its case material, aluminum. In fact, it was presented to its original owner by an aluminum manufacturer as it clearly reads to the case back; "PRESENTED TO OTTIS. E. COLLING BY ALUMINUM LIMITED 1946". It is likely that Mr. Ottis Collins was an employee who was offered this commissioned watch for his service to the company.

The movement is stamped, "VXN" indicating it was made for the United States Market.
