Lot Essay

This Longines "Gondolo" style wristwatch from 1923 is a nice honest example from this time period. It features a beautiful curved oversized yellow gold case that has oxidized and now has a pink-ish hue. Watches this size were not very common in the 1920s and even today it would be considered to be large. Despite the large case size due to the curve this watch fits comfortably on the wrist. This watch features a luminous dial and hand with exploded Arabic numerals giving this watch a chic art deco style. Patek Philippe made similar watches during this time period. These over-sized watches in all original condition from this time period are exceedingly rare and are highly sought after by collectors.
