Lot Essay

Tudor introduced the reference 7928 in 1959 and this was the first Tudor Submariner to sport crown guards. Early examples of this reference had square crown guards, but these guards made it difficult to set the watch. As a result Tudor began to file the guards making them pointy and than they made them round like the present example and most seen. The inside of the case back is stamped VII66 indicating this watch is from 1966. The movement is stamped ROW indicating this watch was made for the American market.
