Lot Essay
The Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Aqua Perpetual features a patented perpetual calendar movement that can be set forwards and backwards without doing any damage to the movement. For other perpetual calendar movements once you set it too far in advance one would need to reset the whole thing or even bring the watch to the manufacturer to reset. Ulysse Nardin came up with something revolutionary with the UN-33 caliber. The present example is number 217, this is engraved on a plaque on the 9 o'clock side of the case. Ulysse Nardin gave this model skeleton style hands so that they would not fully block any of the apertures on the dial. This watch offers an extraordinary value for a perpetual calendar sports watch with the unique ability to be set forwards and backwards, all from the crown.
