Lot Essay

Founded in 1875 by Jules Audemars and Edward-August Piguet, the Swiss manufacture known today as Audemars Piguet is part of the rare fine watch-making companies still held by the families of their founding partners. Ref. 25695OR was until the 1990ies one of the more complicated watches offered at the regular catalogue – and one of only two true in-house chronograph calibres at this time. The present watch (case number C71471) bares number No. 1 – so it is likely that I was the very first one ever produced.
