Lot Essay

Some of the most unusual and charismatic Autavias from the 1970s known to the market are those that were issued to the Kenyan Air Force, such as the present Autavia reference 11630. Featuring an engraved “KAF 430” on the case back, the watch has large luminous plots on the dial, orange accents in the minute register, and central hands with bright orange outlines, making for a highly legible and striking watch. To the best of our knowledge, only one other Autavia is known to the market with this combination of dial and hands. The present watch thus provides an interesting intersection for collectors of rare Heuer chronographs and rare military watches.
