Lot Essay

The Heuer Monza was created to celebrate Niki Lauda’s first Formula One world championship title with Ferrari in 1976. Heuer was the official teamkeep for the Ferrari team from 1971 to 1979 and Jack Heuer presented the team with these watches to celebrate their victory.

The name Monza was selected in honor of the famous track in Italy. Heuer at that time was using famous racetrack and race names as the basis for new model names. The Monza has become more well-known recently as TAG Heuer introduced a popular re-edition of the Monza in 2016.
