Lot Essay

OMEGA was inspired by James Bond's rank and regalia and created the "Commander's Watch." This limited edition features some unique characteristics like the 007 gun logo counter weight on the central seconds hand and the number 7 in the date window is colored red, while the other numbers are blue. OMEGA made 7 pieces in 18k yellow gold and the the watch being auctioned is number 007. This watch is accompanied by a special presentation case (designed after a military medal case), naval style pin, 18k gold bracelet, strap changing tool as well as a reproduction naval uniform to the same specifications that Roger Moore wore in, The Spy Who Loved Me. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the James Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me, staring Roger Moore. In this film, James Bond can be seen wearing his official naval uniform.

Commander Bond’s Naval Uniform, The Spy Who Loved Me, 1977
Oscar® winning costume designer Lindy Hemming supervised the reproduction of James Bond’s two piece naval uniform including Commander’s peak cap. It was tailored by Academy Costumes in London to Roger Moore’s measurements. Moore portraying James Bond is seen wearing a naval uniform for the first and only time in The Spy Who Loved Me, 1977. The inside label has been signed in gold pen by Bond Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
