Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The case has scratches and small nicks and has been polished. The case back is correct with scratches and shows signs of being opened. The inside of the case back has watchmaker's marks. The bezel is correct and in good condition with a small nick above Tachymetre. The dial and hands show signs of age and appear to be original. The dial has yellowed material on its outer edge between 1 and 2 o'clock and near 10 o'clock. There is another piece of darker material near the top of the sub-register at 9 o'clock. The luminous material at the hour markers has darkened and has deteriorated at 12, 1, 2, 8, and 11 o'clock. The markers on the top half of the sub-register are darker than the bottom half. The hands have yellowed and have developed patina. The base of the minute and hour hands have cracked in several places. The luminous material in the hands has completely darkened. The crystal has light scratches throughout. The end links are marked '47' and the bracelet '2-73.' The crown appears to be a later replacement. The bracelet is period correct for the watch, but not original. The movement is not in working order at the time of cataloguing and is rusty. A full service is required.
