The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The case is in good condition with signs of wear, commensurate with its age and has been lightly polished. The numbers between the lugs are partially rubbed. The back of the lugs have scratches from the spring bars. The case back show signs of wear and is engraved "Major Joe Smelley." The inside case back is stamped '1500' and 'III.66' indicating its production in the third quarter of 1966. The inside case back has watchmaker's marks. The crystal is cracked near 6 o'clock. The dial appears to be relumed and the Cotton Bowl insignia touched up. There is a small blemish to the outer track between 11 and 12 o'clock. The hour markers and hands have developed a light patina. The lume in the hands is more yellow than at the hour markers. The movement is stamped 'ROW.' The date does not change as the hands pass midnight. The movement is not working at the time of cataloguing. A service is required.
