Lot Essay

This Vacheron & Constantin chronograph Ref. 4178 is an impressive example of the company’s landmark chronograph models; it was in production from 1938 until the early 1970s. It existed with oval-shaped chronograph buttons or with the better known rectangular variant like the present watch. Ref. 4178 is an all-time classic with a decent size for modern taste due to its stepped case and the claw lugs – especially in combination with the really rare steel and pink gold case.
The watch has been modified during an earlier service – therefore no extract from Vacheron & Constantin can be ordered.
