ABOUT THE WINE
Though the vineyard was replanted in 1972 with the leadership of James Barrett, this vineyards history extends back to 1882 when Alfre Tubbs owned the estate. Their goal is simple: make the best wine possible. Today, they make both Montelena Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and Napa Valley Chardonnay, which has been overseen by Barrett's son, Bo, who has over three decades of wine growing experience. Château Montelena also shocked the world in the "Judgement of Paris", when their Chardonnay was unanimously awared the best wine amongst still competition with other French and California wines.
