ABOUT THE WINE
The winemaker at Tertre Roteboeuf, Francois Mitjavile, believes the grapes should be harvested late and in low yields. Because of their cooler location and intentional late harvest, they are one of the last to harvest in St. Emilion. Unlike most Bordeaux wine, Tertre doesn't sell through the traditional 'negociant' system; rather, they sell directly to the importers and merchants. Though their wines remain unclassified, they could easily be considered Premier Cru Classe status. Tertre produces a rich and racy wine, and with age develops an exotic aromatic quality. Regardless of the vintage, the well ripened fruit always show the unique way in which Mitjavile approaches the winemaking process.
