Per’s Pick
This wine along with it older sibling the 1989 are some of the two best wines produced at this legendary chateau. It has great extraction and beautiful fruit, the 1990 is starting to come together and drink well. It will continue to evolve and change, it will easily drink well for at least another 20 years.

ABOUT THE WINE
In 1778, Etienne-Théodore Dumoulin purchased 200 acres of land in St.-Estèphe. At the time, the ridge was blanketed with heather flowers as far as the eye could see inspiring Dumoulin to name his château in honor of their purplish pink color: Château "Mont-rose." It was not long before Dumoulin planted vines and started making some of the most tannic, dense and age-worthy wines of the 19th and 20th-centuries. Though the Château's name means "pink" there is certainly nothing feminine about the wines. Under the leadership of Charmolüe family, whose coat of arms appears on the label, Château Montrose has continuously made wines that are first growth in quality. Incredible vintages such as 1953, 1955, 1959, 1961, 1964 and 1970 have caused Robert Parker Jr. to remark that Château Montrose is the "Latour of St.-Estèphe."
