Noah's Pick
Ardbeg is my favorite of all the Islay malts, an oily, potent mass of a whisky, peat stained and unctuous in texture. Older bottles from the 1970s are hard to come by – this decade is known for being the finest in Ardbeg’s production. This, the 1972 should be a true delight.

ABOUT THE WINE
Ardbeg distillery has been producing whisky since 1798, and began commercial production in 1815. Like most Scottish distilleries, for most of its history, the single malt was produced for blended whisky, rather than as a single malt. Ardbeg is known today for its extremely rich, profoundly characterful, peated whiskies, in all their releases the oily, concentrated peat flavor comes through. The distillery releases a broad range of new products, but it is really the older, collectible bottles that appeal to connoisseurs.
