ABOUT THE WINEThe venerable Armagnac producer Château de Laubade has held 260 acres of land Sorbets d’Armagnac in Bas Armagnac since 1870. The Lesgourgues family, who have been running the distillery since 1974, are proponents of sustainable agriculture. To that end, every year a herd of 600 ewes is scattered throughout the vineyard to produce a sizable quantity of organic manure. Château de Laubade also holds the distinction of being one of the very few properties in Armagnac that uses the four traditional grape varieties of the appellation. The assemblage consists of 47% Ugni Blanc, 30% Baco 22A, 15% Colombard and 8% Folle Blanche. Château de Laubade is also known for their use of an Alembic pot still, which was custom tailored for the distillery in 1974. The Armagnac is produced using only one single distillation and then laid to rest in casks that were coopered in house and sourced from various forests that surround the property. This unique, privately bottled blend of Château de Laubade Armagnac, was made in honor of the consignor's wedding celebration. It is comprised of a blend of the bride and groom's birth year vintages: 1948 and 1956.
Noah's Pick The last opportunity to acquire a case of this rare, one-off blend of two great vintages of Laubade’s legendary Bas Armagnac. The consignor arranged for the Laubade cellar master to m a bespoke blend of the 1948/1956 vintages to celebrate a personal milestone. This is a beautiful marriage of spirits and here is an opportunity to acquire a case for little more than a bottle of either of the respective vintages.
