Layla's Pick
Of the three, casks or Fûts used to make Hugel's SGN gewurztraminer in 1976, number 20 was considered to be the best. Broadbent notes that in this five star vintage "Old Jean Hugel told his son 'Johnny' that he had never in his life seen better grapes and 'he had better not make a mess of them!' Fût 20 is Hugel's greatest cask." He goes on to describe the wine as "ambrosial syrup of figs intensely rich and fragrant." This lot represents a chance to compare this five star vintage with more numerous vintages from the 80s. A true connoisseur's choice.
