The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
Bowl:
- three hairline cracks, two filled in with gilt-lacquer
- several gilt-lacquered chips to mouth rim and foot rim
- another chip to the foot rim
- glaze gaps and minor kiln grit adhesion
Box and cover:
- hairline cracks and chips to rims and edges
- a star crack and other short cracks to the interior of the cover
- glaze degradation
- a few glaze gaps and glaze flakes
- minor kiln grit adhesion to the base
Censer:
- misfired
- uneven losses to bottoms of each leg
- glaze gaps
- minor kiln grit adhesion to the base of the censer
- two short firing cracks to one ring handle
