Lot Essay

The fabric covering on the two matching fauteuils is Georges Le Manach's 'Plumettes'. A favorite of Henri Samuel, the fabric was also used in the home of Nancy and Frank Richardson at Northwood and in Henri Samuel's own Paris bedroom (see Evans Eerdmans, E. Henri Samuel, Master of the French Interior, New York, 2018, p.202). For a chaise upholstered en suite, see lot 381.
