Lot Essay

The ébéniste Claude Chevigny worked from the rue de Cléry, Paris, during the last quarter of the eighteenth century and specialized in luxury seat furniture for the French nobility. Among his notable commissions are those for the Château de Chanteloup for the duc de Choiseul and the Château de Modave in Belgium for the duc de Montmorency.
