The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Both censers:
-There is loss to the enamel on each figure’s kneeling leg, as may be expected, and the eyebrows of each figure have been refreshed.
-There are some expected minor areas of loss and pitting to the enamels, some with associated infill, and wear to the gilding.
-Some of the joins are loose, and the lead liners are later additions.
One censer:
- The hat of one figure has been restuck, and has some losses to the enamel, loss to a few gilt wires, and one wire has lifted.
- The sleeve of another figure is dented and has associated loss to the enamel.
The other censer:
-The bottom hem of each figure has been restored with wax infill.
