The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall in good order and appearance, structurally sound, and ready to use. Some sun fading to proper left side. The drawers are mahogany fronted and sides mahogany with cedar lining. With typical vertical age cracks to the curved sides, notably to the cupboard doors and the back, commensurate with age. Lock plates of outer, larger drawers all stamped SECURE / PATENT. The hinges on the reading panel are stamped PATENT HOOKJOINT (?) and have had repairs to their corresponding veneers. As noted in cataloguing, the legs and casters probably later. The later pigeon hole arrangement was probably replacing drawers. The brass handles possibly original. The center left secretaire drawer with a replaced lock. The center right drawer is jammed. The inset green leather writing surface with general wear, and the pull for the reading stand is lacking. The upper section with patches to veneers in six places along the brass gallery, which was probably replaced.
