Of baluster form, finely painted with three panels of parrots, jays and other specimen birds perched among flowering and fruiting branches within entwined gilt bands, spaced by blue foliate sections at the shoulder, the flaring neck painted with a garland of flowers interwoven with the gilt bands

Lot Essay

Jean-François Robert, an artist at the Royal Porcelain Manufactory of Sèvres (1806-34 and 1835-43), decorated opalines by Baccarat and Saint Louis with ornithological designs in enamels as well as gold, silver and platinum from 1843-1855. Another pair of vases also attributed to Baccarat and Robert sold at Christie's, New York, 29-30 March 2001, lot 205.
