A LARGE FRENCH OPAQUE WHITE GLASS VASE
MID-19TH CENTURY, PROBABLY BACCARAT, ATTRIBUTED TO J.F. ROBERT
Jean-François Robert, an artist at the Royal Porcelain Manufactory of Sèvres (1806-34 and 1835-43), decorated opalines by Baccarat and Saint Louis with ornithological designs in enamels as well as gold, silver and platinum from 1843-1855. Another pair of vases also attributed to Baccarat and Robert sold at Christie's, New York, 29-30 March 2001, lot 205.

Vase was previously drilled to be electrified as a lamp, the drill-hole to the underside since restored; the gilding with areas of rubbing and loss, commensurate with age and handling; the whole with faint scratches and wear throughout; otherwise in good overall condition.
