Circular and lined with tortoiseshell, the cover set in the centre with a medal under glass of Napoleon in profile as emperor with inscription around IMP. NAPOLEON. P.F. REX. ITAL. in gilt metal frame

This medal created by the chief engraver of the Genoa Mint, Girolamo Vassalo (1773-1819), in 1805 commemorates the arrival of Napoleon in Genoa. It shows the emperor looking to the right, wearing a laurel wreath, the order of the Legion of Honor and an ermine coronation mantle.

Cette médaille créée par le graveur en chef de la Monnaie de Gênes, Girolamo Vassalo (1773-1819), en 1805 commémore l’arrivée de Napoléon à Gênes. Elle montre l’empereur regardant à droite, portant une couronne de laurier, l’ordre de la légion d’honneur et un manteau de couronnement en hermine.
