OPIFICIO DELLE PIETRE DURE, FLORENCE, VERS 1810-1820
Circular multi-colored jasper with gold mounts, the cover inset with image of Kylix; apparently unmarked

The style of decoration of this box can be attributed to Carlo Carlieri, who worked at the Opificio from 1802 to 1819 and whose style, first introduced at the Opificio by the painter Antonio Cioci (1722-1792), corresponded with the return of neoclassical compositions popular during the Napoleonic era. Le décor de cette boîte peut être attribué à Carlo Carlieri (actif à l'Opificio de 1802 à 1819) et dont le style introduit à l'Opificio par le peintre Antonio Cioci (1722-1792) est en réponse aux retours des compositions néoclassiques très prisées sous l'ère napoléonienne.
