Rectangular, chased overall with swags of flowers against engraved architectural backgrounds within scrolling cartouches, centred on the cover and base with a large flower bouquet, marked in cover, base and side: charge, date-letter (o) and maker's mark; on flange: decharge

Melchior-Nicolas Moutier is mentioned first in 1736 as an apprentice of Jacques Briand. He entered his mark in 1747, and must have died between 1759 and 1764.
