Johann Friederich Büttner insculpte son poinçon en 1746 et décède en 1778. Ses boîtes d’une grande qualité de ciselure sont généralement en or de trois ou quatre couleurs, avec des compositions originales. En l’occurrence pour cette tabatière, avec ce grand bouquet de fleurs dans une corbeille, Büttner semble copier un tableau hollandais ou flamand du XVIIe siècle.
