Cette tabatière s’apparente de par son décor au travail de Johann Christian Neuber, l’orfèvre de Dresde connu pour ses tabatière en pierres dures et l’inventeur de la mosaïque en cloisonné. Pourtant ici le décor est réalisé en émail prouvant la perdurance de son style. La qualité de réalisation ainsi que la palette de couleurs suggère une attribution allemande ou autrichienne.
