SUMMER, Donna (1948-2012). Autograph manuscript, a draft for 'Queen for a day' ('Queen for one day'), Munich [circa September 1977].

One page on München Hilton letterhead.

An early draft of Donna Summer's 1978 song, 'Queen for a day' which led off the second side of the first record from the her first double album, Once Upon a Time. Summer recorded the song with Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte at Musicland Studios in Munich, the same studio where the three recorded their breakout hits 'I Feel Love' and 'Love to Love You'. This early draft bears an alternate title, 'Queen for one day' and in this case, repeats the opening lines, "Queen for a day, / queen for a night / Dressed head to toe, so you'd never know it's me, / it's me," [deleting the next phrase, "a King wound Stare,"].
