The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The flat woven surface is decorated with series of alternating lozenges and hooked motifs and remains in good condition overall. There are a small number of occasional, minor repairs which are slightly lighter in tone than the rest of the carpet. The largest is in the elem at one end of the carpet and measures approx. 4cm. in diameter and has a small split to one side, and another similar repair is in the centre of the field in the same half of the carpet. Each end has a long striped original elem. Each end has a short fringe however, there are several rows missing at both ends which require securing, and one end as two short splits, the largest measuring 6cm. in length. The sides are secure overall and have been bound with chocolate brown selvages that are lacking in small areas revealing the structure beneath and may need securing in these areas.
