Jacques Molard est horloger à Grenoble où il signe en 1693 une horloge de 10 pouces et où il travaille en 1699 à l'orgue de la cathédrale. Il meurt en 1717 à l'âge de 68 ans. En 1709, il présente à l'Académie Royale des Sciences une pendule transmettant l'heure à un cadran éloigné.
