Register of the Hospital of San Francesco in Perugia
Notarial register of the Hospital of San Francesco in Perugia, in Latin, manuscript on paper, Perugia, 1453-1465.
Notarised acts relating to the Hospital of San Francesco in Perugia.

c.215 x 147mm. 16 leaves, apparently complete, varying number of lines in a number of condensed italic notarial hands of the 15th century (f.1 almost entirely lacking, f.2 loose and damaged, edges frayed, staining and foxing throughout, the stub of a second gathering survives). Contemporary limp vellum with title, ties survive (yellowed and stained).

Provenance:
(1) The Hospital of San Francesco in Perugia: ‘L[ibro] de Licentie de L’Ospedale de Sam [sic] Franc[esc]o’ on upper cover. The first legible entry is notarised by Tobaldo di Paolo: ‘Ego Tobaldus Pauli de Perusio Porte Sancti Petri publicus imperiali ac apostolica auctoritate notarius et iudice ordinarius [...]’ (see R. Abbondanza, ed., Il notariato a Perugia, 1973, esp. p.62).
(2) Colker MS 178, acquired in 1971 from Renzo Rizzi.

The register contains notarial acts from the years 1453-1465, chiefly concerning debtors to the Hospital of San Francesco. There are around 20 individual entries, all with notarial signatures or subscriptions, among which four by Tobaldo di Paolo, two by Vincenzo di Paolo, five by Antonio di Giovanni and two by Lodovico di Cristoforo.
