The present waiter was given to David Rockefeller on the occasion of his retirement from Chase Manhattan Bank in 1981.
David Rockefeller's significant career at Chase began in 1946, when he joined Chase National Bank as assistant manager in the Foreign Department. Rockefeller worked his way up through the ranks and became president in 1960. He was chairman and chief executive of Chase Manhattan from 1969 to 1980 and chairman until 1981.
