The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Both models with original sweetmeat dishes broken to base and lacking. These have been replaced with later dishes and covers, with old discolored overpainting surrounding the join. Chipping, losses and areas of overpainting to applied leaves and flowers of both.
The male figure - some small patches of flaking to enamels at torso, and overpainting to his left side. Further small patches to legs and right palm. A further 1 inch loss to glaze at his left thigh, where the original dish would have rested. The cover with 1/2 in. section of finial stem broken out and lacking. Chipping to flowers and leaves.
The female figure - lacking thumb and forefinger to her left hand. Restoration to her right arm and hand. Patches of overpainting to torso. There is a 1 in. stained glaze crack to the back of the tree stump and to the front, where the original sweetmeat dish would have rested. 1/2 in. loss to cover finial stem and 1/4 section restored. Some slight chipping to applied leaves and flowers.
Generally in good decorative order but would benefit from sympathetic restoration to discolored overpainting at joins.
