The canvas has been subject to relining, it is held under tension and remains stable. The painting presents very well in natural light. There is a fine pattern of craquelur across the paint surface. The paint layers are stable. The modeling of the face and costume remains fully appreciable. Examination under ultra-violet light reveals that this is in very good condition. There is a cloudy varnish that precludes in depth examination.
