Lot Essay

Kibe Seiho began his career as a bamboo artist in later life, becoming a full member of the Japan Craft Arts Association in 2000 and winning prominent prizes at national exhibitions thereafter including first prize at the 39th Seibu Traditional Craft Arts Exhibition in 2004 and at the 10th national Wood and Bamboo Exhibition.

He often uses the complex and challenging chidori plaiting technique, as in the present lot Eternity.
